Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I began this essay with William Portier\u2019s assessment of the\npotentialities of what he dubs \u201cevangelical Catholicism.\u201d I also noted\nPortier\u2019s concern of \u201cretheologizing\u201d theology, too long a captive to the\nsecular social sciences. I then tried to build a case that any such\nretheologizing, if it is to be successful, must include a \u201crephilosophizing\u201d of\ntheology as well, while attempting to show how this concern for philosophy\nemerges organically from the very work of retheologizing theology itself. The\nphilosophy that so emerges, in fact, is nothing but an\narticulation\u2014itselfconcretely embodied\u2014of the concrete, primordial act of\nthinking enfolded within the Christian experience of assimilation to the body\nof Jesus in the Church. In this way, I hope to have allayed some of the deep\nsuspicion of philosophy shared by many older Catholic theologians, who\nassociate philosophy with bad memories of rationalistic Scholasticism, and many\nyounger ones, whose post-modern proclivities incline them away from what they\ntake to be \u201cgrand narratives.\u201d Philosophy is not ideology, but engagement with\nthe whole: ressource-ment, in a transparency that is akin to the childlikeness that\nJesus asks of us in the Gospels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Keywords<\/strong>: William Portier, theology, joy, rephilosophizing,\nevangelical Catholicism<\/p>\n\n\n\n Streszczenie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Zacz\u0105\u0142em ten esej od oceny Williama Portiera o potencjale\ntego, co nazywa \u201eewangelicznym katolicyzmem\u201d.
