Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n D. C. Schindler<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cWork as\nContemplation: On the Platonic Notion of Techn\u00ea<\/em>\u201d asks\nwhether work has intrinsic meaning, or is only a kind of necessary evil.\nDrawing from Plato, Josef Pieper, and Matthew Crawford (philosopher-motorcycle\nmechanic), Schindler argues that \u201cthe meaning of the world and the meaning of\nman jointly come to expression in a decisive way in work.\u201d Work articulates the\nmetaphysical reality of man\u2019s union with, and stewardship of, all of creation.\nHowever, we remain always in danger of reducing work to its merely pragmatic\nvalue, evacuating it of meaning and thereby obscuring the right relation\nbetween man and the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Keywords<\/strong>: Work, contemplation, ecology, techn<\/em>\u00ea,<\/em>, Plato, man, world<\/p>\n\n\n\n Streszczenie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n D.
