It is all the more astonishing that the expectation of a Millennial\nKingdom of Peace on earth (Rev. 20: 1-6) was not advocated in the same\nrealistic way. Theologians such as Justin, Irenaeus of Lyons and Tertullian\nhave openly taught chiliasm. However, there was an early criticism of a too\nliteral interpretation of Revelation and the Prophets. Origen rejects the\n\u00abjudaistic\u00bb literary reading and opts for an allegorical interpretation.\nAugustine offers in his work \u00abDe civitate Dei\u00bb an ecclesiological domestication\nof chiliasmus: with long-term consequences for eschatology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Keywords<\/strong>: Milleniarism, Early Church, Theology of\nHistory, Apocalypse, Lumen Gentium, Vatican II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Streszczenie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wczesny Ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142 broni\u0142 realizmu zmartwychwstania\nprzed gnostyckim doketyzmem.
